What's the Good Word??? Well, This is What I Know....

If you know of anyone who would like to be on the email list, please feel free to share my info with them.  If you know of any events, if you will be part of an event, or if there is an error on the venue list (I don’t want to send people to a venue that no longer exists or has changed its day or time.), please let me know as soon as possible!!  Also, if you have fliers, please pass them along.  Remember knowledge is power!!

With the Christmas holiday upon us,
it’s a good rule of thumb to check with the venues before attending!!

1.  Local Professors Speak:  Poetic Consciousness invites you to The House of Consciousness for a rare evening of poetry on Thursday, December 19th beginning at 7:00.  The features are:  Daniel Pravda, Hollis Pruitt, Nathan Richardson, Tim Seibles and Frank Kozusko.  This is truly a night you don’t want to miss!!

2.  Five Points Features:  The next Five Point Poetry Reading will be on Sunday, January 12th from 2:00 to 4:00.  The features will include:  Godchild the Omen, Phil Raisor, Sarah Pringle, Firefly and the ever-talented, Betty Davis.  Again, a day of poetry you don’t want to miss!!

3.  CNU Writers’ Conference:  It doesn’t seem like it, but February is just around the corner which means it’s time for the 33rd Annual Writers’ Conference at CNU to be held from February 28th to March 1st!!  The theme this year is “Empowerment Through Literacy” with keynote speakers, Sharyn McCrumb and local 757 poet and professor, Dr. Hollis Pruitt!!!!  Details are forthcoming….stay tuned….

a.  Open-Mic Returns to Queens Way – Open-mic (for all artists) returns to Queens Way Soul Café in Hampton every Wednesday beginning December 11th from 7:00 to 11:00.  Free until 9:30 and then $5.00 after 9:30.  Please see venue list for more details.
