August Richmond Poetry Happenings!!

River City Secrets
Henry Street Gallery, 422 W. Broad St., RVA 23220
Friday August 8, 7pm
We're excited to bring live music back into the mix this month at RCS. Not only will we have both featured poetry AND our signature open mic, but the two will be complemented by the sweet sounds of the saxophone. Keep an eye on Facebook (shortlink http://bit.ly/tenthmuse) for more details about our August feature and musician!
As ever, light refreshments will be provided. This event is supported by CultureWorks, but we will be accepting donations to help out the gallery itself.
The secret is out... where the locals go to get their word on.

Full Moon Poetry/Sugar Pad Project
Sunday Aug 10, 7-10pm
Contact: Rick Tatnall, rick@replenishrichmond.com
I was fortunate enough to have read at this awesome event last month; this month the organizers are opening it up as an open mic available to all interested. I am going to try to make it again, at least to listen... It's a gorgeous setting on the river, poetry under the full moon. Lawn chairs/picnics encouraged.

From organizer Rick Tatnall:
"The success of our full moon poetry event on July 12th has inspired the Sugar Pad Project's Full Moon Series, with the next event on Sunday August 10th from 7-10pm.  Attached is a graphic describing the Full Moon Series, which is also presented at the end of the above webpage.  Entertainment and activities for each event are still in the planning stages.  For the August event we are going to do an "Open Mic Night" sort of concept to build on the poetry readings in July.  We will have the same PA set-up with generator.  Anyone wishing to read poetry, tell a story, sing a song, or otherwise perform for the audience is welcome to participate.  I will coordinate the show and would appreciate an email or phone heads-up from anyone who would like to participate.
Below is a link to my Replenish Richmond website offering a full description and the current plans for the Sugar Pad Project - please send this onto anyone you have helped to connect to our project and anyone you might like to introduce to our efforts.

Calling all poets, writers & artists of every stripe! You are cordially invited to a discussion with like-minded creatives!
This intimate group format went over so well in April/May that, as promised, we've pencilled in another round, sharing experiences & advice round-table style over food and drink. We're relaxing the rules this time around, with discussion topics TBA and by request. RSVP required (but no pre-registration). Seating is limited to a dozen, so reserve your space at the table now!

The whole is as always set off by C'est le Vin's alluring wine selection, plus a re-vamped menu & backdrop of ever-changing art. (Have a few verses to throw down yourself? Make sure to get on the list! Look for me early in the evening or email ahead of time: dottoressa.joanna at hotmail dot com)
