POETRY INSPIRED BY ART
Christi Harris - Puppy Love
In conjunction with our current exhibition, Artists Who Teach Juried Exhibition 2015 at The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center in Hampton, we are sponsoring a Poetry Inspired by Art event.
Poets are invited to write a poem inspired by one of the artworks in the exhibition, followed by a poetry reading here in our galleries. The poems would also be posted adjacent to the artworks, with the permission of the artist. They will also be available in notebooks for perusal by our visitors.
Poets can write their poems or photograph the artwork for reference in our galleries and write their poems later beginning Saturday, March 21 up until Saturday, April 25. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10-6 and Saturday and Sunday, 1-5. Poets are also invited to attend the Opening Reception for the exhibition on Sunday, March 22, 2:30-4:30 pm
When you have completed your poem, please email it to me, preferably in 12 point font and as a WORD friendly document attachment. Include the name of the poem, your name and the artist name and title. Attached is the suggested format. CHTAC reserves the right to reject any submission for any reason, at its discretion.
We will be hosting the Poetry Reading of these poems Saturday, April 25 at 2:30 pm, here in our galleries. Participants are welcome to bring an appetizer or non-alcoholic beverage to share following the reading.
