February Richmond Poetry Options and a March Sneak Peek!!

Poetry & Jazz Tasting
C'est Le Vin, 15 N. 17th St. RVA 23219
Thursday February 4, 7pm
Wind down & warm up after a long day by joining us for a glass and a couple hours’ inspiration at the award-winning C’est Le Vin! Over the course of the evening, local poets of all experience levels will share a “taste” of their art in five minutes or less. We’ll also be grooving with the likes of Super64 & friends, who will share some sets of their own as well as provide accompaniment to any poet so desiring. Want to join in the fun? Make sure to get on the list! Find me early in the evening or get in touch beforehand.

Poetry Night @ taZa
taZa Coffee n Creme, 5047 Forest Hill Ave., RVA 23225
Friday February 26, 7pm
Fingers crossed for no snow this go-round! Barring bad news from the weather gods, we’ll be back for our regularly scheduled 4th Friday evening of open mic awesomeness at this happening Westover Hills café. Join us! It’s always a great night filled with old friends and new voices, and of course pure poetry. TaZa’s relaxed atmosphere, good eats and adult refreshment make it a perfect place to take in some excellent wordsmithery of an evening. No language or theme restrictions. First-time readers/performers always welcome!

Freewrite Tuesdays at Sub Rosa!
Sub Rosa Bakery
620 N. 25th St., RVA 23223
Tuesdays, 10:30-11:30am-ish
Spend some quality time with your pen this winter & meet us at SubRosa any Tuesday morning! This group’s purpose is to create a cozy and informal venue to freewrite and converse-- we believe writing isn’t necessarily a solitary sport, and that you never know what inspiration might walk through the door. Although we're open to specialized topics and sharing, there is no formal critique or workshop agenda, and no RSVP required— simply show up & be ready to write!

Monday Night Workshop & Critique Series
Urban Farmhouse Market & Café
We’re in full flow with our Monday night workshop and critique series! Check out the Event page on Facebook for 3rd Monday workshop specifics, and keep the muse at your elbow with our regularly scheduled critique groups on the 2nd & 4th Mondays. For critique nights, please bring 1-2 poems-in-progress with a handful of copies (5-10) to share around the table. If you’re planning on attending and the weather is iffy, do send me a note to make sure we’re on. And thank you to everyone who participated in the American Sentences Snow Day Challenge last week—prizes to be awarded at the Feb. 8 critique session!

All critique nights and workshops are always completely free and open to all experience levels, but if you feel inspired by what you learn on Monday nights, you can still show your appreciation by throwing a few bucks toward the poetry cause (by going to http://bit.ly/inspiredpoet). 100% of funds (minus a small PayPal fee) go directly to the instructor and the furthering of these workshops. Giving a little means a lot!

Next Saturday: Poetry on the Square Featuring Toni Wynn!!!!!

Kick off your creative muscles this January as renowned poet and author Toni Wynn leads us in a workshop on poetry forms at Discover Teas - Port Warwick on Saturday, January 9th! We'll be seeing how poetry forms can shape our work without limiting it, and after the workshop, we'll be sharing our favorite poetry in our open round-robin reading until 6:00pm.

This month's theme is "Shape(s)," but as usual, all work is welcome—and so are guests, so feel free to invite a friend to come and check it out!

Our featured tea for the event is Winter Dreams, a house black tea blended with chamomile, vanilla, and spearmint, and a perfect way to help your creativity flow!
